Roland TY-300i Direct-to-Film Printer

Overview

The Roland TY-300i is a 30-inch direct-to-film (DTF) printer with built-in cutting, made for print shops and apparel decorators who run transfer production every day. It takes film rolls from 182 to 762 mm wide, prints and cuts up to 736 mm wide at up to 1,200 dpi, and uses Roland DG S-PG3 ink in five colours: cyan, magenta, yellow, black and white. Production modes of 10.9 m²/h and 12.3 m²/h keep pace with busy order books.

Four White Ink Cartridges For Longer Runs

DTF printing uses far more white ink than any other colour. The TY-300i carries four white cartridges alongside CMYK in eight ink slots. The white cartridges work in pairs, and when one runs out the printer switches to its partner automatically. Cartridges can be replaced mid-run, which reduces interruptions on long jobs.

Two Staggered Print Heads

One print head is dedicated to CMYK and a second to white, mounted in a staggered arrangement. Choose from high-quality 1,200 × 1,200 dpi output for fine detail and small text through to high-speed modes for volume work.

Print And Cut In One Machine

A cutting carriage with blade force up to 500 gf and speeds up to 300 mm/s contour cuts printed transfers, with a multi-sensor that reads crop marks. The sheet cutter can also perforate the film, leaving 10 or 20 uncut points across the width so the film holds together when it is fed onward to a take-up.

Ready To Link With A Powder Shaker

The TY-300i can feed a set length of film, from 100 to 5,000 mm, to an external powder shaker after each print, at the print speed or at a set feed rate. Roland DG's RDTFS800 powder shaker is optimised for the TY-300 series and automates powdering, curing and take-up.

Maintenance Built Around DTF Ink

With the main power left on, the printer circulates white ink and runs thickening-care cleaning on its own. A cleaning-liquid supply wets the wiper directly, and guided start-up and shut-down cleaning routines with a head nozzle refresher keep the nozzles in condition. The wiper, wiper cleaner, print head cap and flushing sponge are customer-replaceable.

Certified Inks And Connected Software

S-PG3 ink and S-POWDER hold OEKO-TEX® ECO PASSPORT certification and are REACH compliant, which matters when you produce apparel for retail. VersaWorks 7 handles RIP and colour management, Roland DG Connect Designer helps prepare artwork and remove backgrounds, and Roland DG Connect monitors the printer remotely. The printer itself is run from a 7-inch touch panel.

Applications

  • T-shirts and hoodies full-colour transfers with a white underbase for light and dark garments.
  • Workwear and sportswear durable transfers for uniforms and team kit.
  • Caps, aprons and footwear heat-press transfers for accessories and smaller items.

FAQ

What is the difference between the TY-300 and the TY-300i?

The TY-300i is the updated version of the TY-300. It adds two extra white ink slots, giving four white cartridges in total with automatic switching between paired cartridges, and it runs on Roland DG's new S-PG3 ink. Print width, resolution and cutting capability are the same.

Do I need a powder shaker with the TY-300i?

Printed DTF film has to be powdered and cured before transfer. The TY-300i can feed film directly to an external shaker, and Roland DG's RDTFS800 powder shaker is optimised for it. The RDTFS800 handles media up to 762 mm wide, adds the take-up winder and has built-in HEPA and carbon filtration. It needs a 200–240 V, 16 A single-phase supply.

What daily maintenance does the TY-300i need?

Before work, shake the white ink cartridges and carry out start-up cleaning of the nozzle surfaces. After work, carry out daily shut-down cleaning around the print heads, caps and wiper. DTF ink thickens if left, so if the printer will stand idle, keep the main power on, run a cleaning at least once a week and do not leave it unused for more than a week.

What room conditions does the TY-300i need?

Run the printer at 20 to 28 °C and 40 to 60% relative humidity with no condensation. If the room is not kept at that temperature overnight, let the printer acclimatise for at least an hour before printing. Store DTF film sealed with desiccant, as damp film can cause ink to run.

Can the TY-300i cut transfers as well as print them?

Yes. The built-in cutting carriage contour cuts at up to 300 mm/s with up to 500 gf blade force, using crop marks read by the multi-sensor. The sheet cutter can also make a perforated cut across the film.
