Overview
The Roland TrueVIS XG-640 is a 64-inch eco-solvent printer/cutter and Roland’s flagship model in the TrueVIS range. It combines two staggered print heads, new GBL-free TR3 inks with optional White, and built-in contour cutting, so one machine can handle high-volume signage, stickers and labels, window graphics and vehicle wraps.
Print And Cut In One Machine
The XG-640 prints and then contour cuts stickers, labels and decals without moving the media to a separate cutter. The cutting head runs at 10 to 300 mm/s with a blade force of 30 to 500 gf, and a perforated sheet cut function helps with long runs sent to the take-up.
Dual Staggered Print Heads For High Productivity
Two staggered print heads, each handling up to eight colours, deliver 22.5 m²/h on vinyl in Standard mode with CMYK ×2 and up to 76.1 m²/h on banner. In 8-colour Standard mode on vinyl it prints at 15.2 m²/h, which Roland says is nearly twice as fast as the VG3-640.
New GBL-Free TR3 Ink
TR3 is Roland’s next generation of eco-solvent ink. It contains no GBL, a chemical that has been banned in several countries, and is GREENGUARD Gold certified. The ink comes in 500 ml paper-based cartridges (220 ml for White), with a dedicated TR3-CL cleaning liquid.
Ink Configurations For Every Job, Including White
Choose CMYK ×2 for speed, an 8-colour set with Light Cyan, Light Magenta, Light Black, Orange, Green or Red for a wide colour gamut, or a 7-colour set with two White channels for clear film and window work. White ink is circulated to keep it in condition, and white and colour can be printed in a single pass in either layering order.
Easy To Use
The XG-640 shares its chassis with the XP-640. It comes with media setup support, automatic media gap adjustment, print lights and a take-up unit as standard. The new 7-inch touch panel (1,024 × 600) is brighter and clearer, offers light and dark modes, supports more languages and shows the remaining cleaning liquid.
VersaWorks 7 And Roland DG Connect
VersaWorks 7 RIP software is included. From version 7.1.0 it adds a new dither method that reduces graininess and stays consistent even with small bidirectional misalignment or media lift, plus faster RIP processing. Roland DG Connect gives you a clear view of your printer’s status and usage.
Automated Maintenance
Automatic cleaning runs at set intervals and at the start and end of printing. A drain bottle sensor monitors the waste liquid, and the nozzle mask function lets you keep printing on part of the heads if a problem occurs.

FAQ
How is the XG-640 different from the XP-640?
The XG-640 is a printer/cutter, while the XP-640 is print-only. The XG-640 uses TR3 ink with a White option and ink circulation, offers Light Cyan and Light Magenta in its 8-colour set, and has the new high-resolution touch panel and VersaWorks 7. The XP-640 uses TH ink and accepts narrower media, from 259 mm.
Can the XG-640 print white ink?
Yes, in the 7-colour configurations (CMYK with Orange, Green or Red, plus two White cartridges). White comes in 220 ml cartridges and is circulated to keep it in condition. White and colour can be printed in a single pass in either order, for example white under colour on clear PET film or clear vinyl.
What media can it cut?
The XG-640 cuts media up to 0.4 mm thick with liner (0.22 mm without liner) across a maximum width of 1,600 mm. Cutting speed is 10 to 300 mm/s with a blade force of 30 to 500 gf. Printing accepts media up to 1.0 mm thick with liner.
What does GBL-free TR3 ink mean for my shop?
TR3 ink contains no GBL, a chemical banned in several countries. It comes in paper-based cartridges with a 24-month expiry and should be stored at 5 to 30 °C (average below 25 °C) and 20 to 80 % RH.
Which software is included?
VersaWorks 7 RIP software is included, along with access to Roland DG Connect for monitoring your printer. VersaWorks 7.1.0 and later add a new dither method for smoother images and faster RIP processing.
