Roland VersaOBJECT CO-640i-F3 / CO-300i-F2 UV Flatbed Printer

Overview

The Roland VersaOBJECT CO-i series is a UV-LED flatbed printer for printing directly onto boards, rigid and flexible substrates and 3D objects up to 242 mm high. It comes in two sizes with the same print engine, inks and features: the 64-inch CO-640i-F3, with a maximum print area of 1,612 × 2,500 mm, and the 30-inch CO-300i-F2, with 749 × 1,500 mm. Both accept objects weighing up to 100 kg/m² and print at up to 1,440 dpi with ECO-UV EUV5 ink.

Roland DG positions the CO-i as the economy model in its LO/CO-i flatbed family, alongside the faster LO series.

Objects Up To 242 mm High

The vacuum bed is standard and takes objects up to 242 mm high and 100 kg/m², from flat boards and panels to bottles, cases and promotional items. Several items can be laid out and printed in a single run.

Fine Detail At Up To 1,440 dpi

Fine control of ink ejection gives high-definition results at up to 1,440 dpi, the highest resolution in the LO/CO-i family, and also allows special effects such as textures and embossing.

Seven Ink Configurations

EUV5 ink comes in 500 ml cartridges (cyan, magenta, yellow, black, red, orange, gloss and primer) and 220 ml cartridges (white), set up in one of seven configurations. Red and orange extend the colour gamut for brand colours with the True Rich Color preset, gloss adds varnish, texture and embossed effects, white adds high-opacity details and underprints, and primer improves adhesion on difficult substrates. Roland DG states that ECO-UV5 inks are GREENGUARD Gold certified.

Distance Mode For Curved Objects

Distance Mode prints onto convex, concave and irregular surfaces while keeping detail sharp, so you can customise bottles, balls and candles, trays, and the inside of phone cases.

Adjustable UV-LED Lamps

UV-LED lamp intensity is set from VersaWorks, from off to full power or anywhere in between. Gloss, primer or white can therefore be left uncured as an adhesive layer for glitter or foil, then cured to seal.

Integrated Control Panel And Safety

The control panel is built into the table, so the printer takes up less space. An emergency stop perimeter around the base and on the side, plus a signal beacon with variable alerts, protect operators and show the printer status.

Software Included

VersaWorks 7 RIP software is included, with automatic special-colour generation, texture libraries and variable data printing for personalising each item. Roland DG Connect monitors the printer and tracks ink use in real time, and the optional PrintAutoMate maps artwork onto objects held in a printing jig.

Applications

  • Promotional and personalised objects giveaways, personalised gifts, branded merchandise and trophies, including large batches on one table.
  • Sign and graphics exhibition graphics, retail signage, display visuals and POP/POS for indoor and outdoor use.
  • Industrial print control panels, product housings, measurement devices and larger items such as doors or floor panels.
  • Trays and concave surfaces Distance Mode prints into recesses with raised edges, such as trays and the inside of phone cases.
  • Bottles and convex surfaces curved items such as bottles, balls and candles.
  • Interior décor designs and photos printed directly onto glass with a high-gloss finish.
  • Packaging mock-ups and proofs realistic mock-ups and proofs on original or substitute substrates, with brand colours and special effects.

FAQ

What is the difference between the CO-640i-F3 and the CO-300i-F2?

They share the same inks, ink configurations, 1,440 dpi resolution, 242 mm object height, 100 kg/m² load and features. The CO-640i-F3 accepts objects up to 1,625 mm wide and prints up to 1,612 × 2,500 mm, at 1.6 m²/h (white > CMYK). The CO-300i-F2 accepts objects up to 762 mm wide and prints up to 749 × 1,500 mm, at 1.3 m²/h. The CO-640i-F3 draws approx. 2.90 kW in operation and weighs 863 kg; the CO-300i-F2 draws approx. 1.80 kW and weighs 487 kg.

How does the CO-i series differ from the LO series?

Roland DG presents them as one LO/CO-i flatbed family with the same 242 mm object height, 100 kg/m² load, ink colours and seven ink configurations, Distance Mode and VersaWorks workflow. The CO-i is the economy model: it prints at up to 1,440 dpi against the LO's 1,200 dpi, has a slightly larger print area, and uses 500 ml and 220 ml EUV5 cartridges. The LO is the high-productivity model, with two staggered print heads and 750 ml EUV5P pouches, reaching 5.0 m²/h on the LO-640-F3 against 1.6 m²/h on the CO-640i-F3.

What has changed from the original CO-640 and CO-300?

Compared with Roland DG's earlier CO-640/300 documents, the CO-i takes objects up to 242 mm high instead of 200 mm, and its control panel is built into the table instead of a separate control tower. Ethernet now supports 1000BASE-T as well as 100BASE-TX, and Roland DG's current page lists one table length per width (F3 for the 64-inch model, F2 for the 30-inch model). The print areas, 1,440 dpi resolution, EUV5 cartridges and seven ink configurations are unchanged.

Which ink configurations are available?

Seven, using ECO-UV EUV5 ink in 500 ml cartridges, with white in 220 ml cartridges: CMYKReOrWhGl (eight colours), CMYKReOrWhWh, CMYKReOrWhPr, CMYKReWhGlPr, CMYKWhWhGlPr, CMYKWhGlWhGl and CMYKCMYK (four colours). Talk to us about the configuration that suits your applications.

Can the CO-i print on curved or uneven objects?

Yes. Distance Mode prints onto convex, concave and irregular surfaces such as bottles, balls, trays and the inside of phone cases, with a jettable distance of up to 6.3 mm from the sensor. Results depend on the object, so test before starting production.
